Today was awesome – Project3R and I hosted a group of 11th grade Avid students from San Juan Hills High School on a field trip in Dana Point Harbor. We did a beach clean up and then went out on the boat to learn about taking care of the ocean. We didn’t see any dolphins today but we did see a pod of 5 Fin Whales!
Fun facts: Did you know that Fin Whales are the 2nd largest animal on the planet (behind Blue Whales) and they average a weight of 100,000 lbs? They are also one of the loudest animals on earth with their vocalizations being heard up to 19 miles away.
A big thank you to the Massen Greene Foundation for supporting Project3R and funding our ocean education field trips.
